Love at First Bite!

And so I baked My Love a cake.

When I was a youth, Valentine’s Day was a day for gifts exchange among close friends. It’s a day we show our appreciation to a year of great friendship. Then I became a teenager and learned about the honey and the bees. Valentine’s Day became a day of planning surprises and hopefully receiving them. As I grew beyond that (and remained unattached), Valentine’s became a taboo subject. It’s just an excuse for retailers to scheme and extort money from those lovesick couples. A single rose for S$10 when on normal days it costs only a mere S$0.80. Atrocious! Unbelievable! Silly! Oh well… That’s not to say I wasn’t ecstatic when someone buys me one though. =\

Then I met my Man. A practical engineer (what else?) who thinks V-Days are unnecessary. As long as he loves me all the time, why does he need a special day to show his love? Oh well… Such is the reason why Men are from Mars and Women from Venus. So what if the scheming retailers are profiting? Long as everyone on the streets are holding flowers and having candlelight dinners, why can’t I enjoy those ‘love’ too?

Ok, I shouldn’t complain really. Since I now own the rainbow in the sky. Oh! The Man conveniently gave me the rainbow one Valentine’s Day many years back. We were driving along after a slight drizzle when we saw the rainbow in the sky. And just as I was lamenting on my lack of celebration on that special day, my sweet hubby gave that to me! So now you ladies out there! Please do not even cast a look at that rainbow in the sky! It’s mine!

And of course, this year’s V-Day is spent sharing a drink and hot dogs at Ikea. And a candlelight curry chicken dinner at home. Cooked by me of course! And Seth being the candle.
