Trying Times

This is a super belated post. I’m posting it just for record purposes. So there! On Jun 1st, Seth had his share of the Roseola Virus!

The fever came in the middle of the night. He was so hot he started shivering. The Man was rather worried while I blamed it on teething pains since there were no signs of sickness or lethargy before that.

And so the fever fluctuated for the next 4 days. Visit to the PD got us some suppositories and Ibuprofen for reducing the fever. The supp worked best but I was rather reluctant to put him through the ordeal of sticking something up his butt. Thus I diligently fed him the oral med every six hourly and my boy slept and slept. He was back to his baby days. Sleeping all the time, waking up only for milk. His intake of solids was low, and he threw up most of what he ate. Even for milk, there were refluxes and I was reminded of the nightmares of those days when he threw up all the time. He was a Super(hot)baby! He could sleep naked or in just a singlet and diapers in 19 degrees air conditioned room temperature without blankets throughout the whole week! Any degree higher and he would wake up in perspiration and whimper in ‘complaint’.

By the fifth day, his fever was gone but his body was a huge mass of red rashes. It was a relief, for rashes are known to be the aftermath of high fevers. So I was glad the fever was gone. And by the following week, he was up and running again. Eating more than before, to compensate for the weight loss I suppose.

Hmm… I kinda miss the week of ‘freedom’ when he slept throughout the day and I had time to myself! :p

And I especially miss the DOUBLE EYELIDS which were the results of his constant sleep and puffy eyes! Heh!
