Valentine’s day warrants a romantic post. So I think I’ll write about the ideal and perfect husband a wife can dream of!

The Perfect Husband should:-

1. Be sweet and caring at ALL times. ALL meaning even at times when the wife is experiencing PMS and throwing silly tantrums. Giving ‘perfect model answers’ when wife asks questions like “Am I Fat?” (Of cos not! You’re beautiful!) “Wah.. I love this S$350 bracelet!” (Let’s go pay for it at the cashier! [Of cos, with total understanding that the wife will never seriously consider buying such items but saying just to make her happy that he loves her, and will get her the stars from the sky!]) This is all in conjunction with living by the rule that “The Wife is always right!”
2. Remembers all birthdays and anniversaries. Even ‘Pak Tor’ anniversaries! Remembering also means showering wife with surprise gifts, cakes and/or flowers! (Big Hint! ;p)
3. Be eager to advance into parenthood and ability to fit into it like fish to water! This includes sitting by the toilet bowl with the wife and staring intensely at the pregnancy strip for a straight 7 mins, waiting for it to change color! Then proceeding to make wife the queen and take care of all difficult chores while baby is in the making. Going for every gynae visit and oogling at the black-&-white scans of a moving foetal (except for times when he’s away on business trips). And finally being so excited about the birth of baby that he mistakes the sound of the toilet flush as the waterbag bursting!
4. Be happy to spend all his spare time with baby and wife, with not a single complaint. Take half day off once a month to give wife a break on weekdays from taking care of baby. Enjoying the extra family time and the break in momentum.
5. Be a wonderful father to a beautiful child. Taking 3 weeks off to care for the baby and wife, doing every possible thing except latching baby for feed! Waking up in the middle of the night to sit below a freezing aircon to keep baby awake and feed him for an hour, despite having to work the next day. Going on all fours to show baby how to crawl. Of course, this includes passing on amazing genes to make baby beautiful!

God! Thank you for creating and moulding this special man especially for me. I pray that you will inscribe these memories into my heart so I will forever remember them, and that every imperfection and fault that ocassionally surfaces will be vanquished! Amen!
