Ah Du the Saviour!

Ok, refering to my last post, this pic is in credit of our beloved Ah Du! See the charming way my boy holds his pacy?! so gurllll!!!

As at last sunday, 16th December 2007, we stopped sterilising his bottles! Haa! It’s memorable cos it makes a growing up stage in his life, where he no longer needs to have everything sterilised! And as the old folks say…”Eat dirty and grow up despite it!”

I’ve been giving him a little of everything to try. Wanting to ‘rough him up’ a little! Ha! And so far he’s taking it well! He has tried ice cream! And many others in small quantities! As the Man grew up drinking cold water right out of the fridge,he never believed in cold drinks resulting in cough and sickness! So there! We have been giving him cold sips from our cups when we drink, and cold cut fruits. So far so good! (I pray!)

First Fall

I know I know, the title says it all again! It’s like I have been a lousy mum lately. Failing to protect my boy! Blame it on his hyperactive-ness, or his fiesty behaviour. A moment out of sight and he’s in trouble!

This time round he fell from our bed. Details will not be recorded in case he grows up and blames me for a distorted nose or something! =X

Ah…my poor boy has a huge baluku on his forehead! Much bigger than those he had from knocks against the walls! Plus an abrasion on the side of his nose which bled a little! Sigh… the pain was intense! It was in my heart! (I must admit though, that my failure to wean him off the pacifier is a blessing in disguise! It must have broken his fall a little and prevented further damage to his little pearlies!! Thou, the impact scratched his nose, I’m sure the injury will be worse without it! Alrighty, Ah Du! You get to survive a little longer!) =p

Fortunately, with soothing from a hard boiled egg, the swell went down rather fast and the blue-black bruise was almost not visible! Phew! There’s only the ugly red nose to show for my incompetence! =(

baluku
Seth the red-nosed reindeer with a baluku! Notice the round spot on his forehead where the hair parts, and the redness on the left side of his nose!

Straw Experience

Slurp!
Second try at slurping

Encouraged by his noodle slurping experience (we gave him noodles and before we could take a shot, he had slurped it in and was happily chewing on it!), I decided to let him try drinking from a straw. We got him a little tumbler with a straw and gave it to him to ’sip’. First try, he was happily chewing on the straw and made no attempt to drink. Very happy and excited though, he was!

We gave up after making lots of ’slurrrrp’-ing sounds and getting bloated from all the demo sips I took!

Second day, we tried it again. This time, I used a normal drinking straw and with my finger on one end, ‘absorbed’ some water and let him suckle. Now that he knows straws ‘dispense’ water, he was quick to suck when I placed it back in water for him. Triumphant! We proceeded to give him the tumbler! A few tries later, and with alot of sucking ‘zuk zuk zuk’ sounds, my darling was sipping happily from his straw!! Yay! =D

Indeed, training is required. There is no such thing as letting nature takes it’s course! Kids need to know straws are for drinking!

Virgin Blood

Last night, the Man was checking his (snail) mails on the floor when he noticed blood trails! He checked his body frantically, no blood! So he checked the next possibility. Seth! sitting next to him! Body-searched him twice and found his middle finger bleeding. Seth’s First Paper Cut! At 8 months 2 weeks and 5 days old!

He was not crying. Oblivious to the pain. We washed his little finger and he was banging on the tabletop within minutes. A little blood still oozed but my brave little boy was unaware.

Sigh. Now I truly understand the saying. “Hurt the child’s body, but Pain in the Mum’s Heart.” Err… or something like that. Thou he was not grumbling, my heart felt like it was stabbed. Argh… I can’t imagine there’ll be more to come next!

cut
Right! That’s his red and sore middle finger. This sad expression is definitely not due to his injury.

It’s Not Fair!

My 2 favourite men at Marche… I still can’t get over the fact that they are using a branded high chair that costs easily a few hundred bucks! =O

sethndaddy

Now… is it me or my photography skills… why is it that I can always get nice posed pics of them but the Man can never get a proper pic of me and Seth together. Hmmm… *raise 1 eyebrow!*

It’s either I look ugly or Seth looks away… sometimes both! Sigh…
