Straw Experience

Second try at slurping

Encouraged by his noodle slurping experience (we gave him noodles and before we could take a shot, he had slurped it in and was happily chewing on it!), I decided to let him try drinking from a straw. We got him a little tumbler with a straw and gave it to him to ’sip’. First try, he was happily chewing on the straw and made no attempt to drink. Very happy and excited though, he was!

We gave up after making lots of ’slurrrrp’-ing sounds and getting bloated from all the demo sips I took!

Second day, we tried it again. This time, I used a normal drinking straw and with my finger on one end, ‘absorbed’ some water and let him suckle. Now that he knows straws ‘dispense’ water, he was quick to suck when I placed it back in water for him. Triumphant! We proceeded to give him the tumbler! A few tries later, and with alot of sucking ‘zuk zuk zuk’ sounds, my darling was sipping happily from his straw!! Yay! =D

Indeed, training is required. There is no such thing as letting nature takes it’s course! Kids need to know straws are for drinking!

“Zuk zuk ZUk”
