Lost

Just one day after our full moon celebration, the Man’s been sent on an overseas trip! For the next 5 days, I’ve got to take care of Seth alone. It’ll be my responsibility and it’s kinda scary.

There’ll be no one to share my thoughts, my fears, my joy, my queries. Absolutely no one to share my baby woes. Sigh!

Baby Seth’s got lotsa little sounds and often has choking tendencies. On usual days, I feel rather experienced and calm. I was sure I could recognise his cries and differentiate between the cries for milk and cries of discomfort. However, with the Man gone, I suddenly feel unsure. Just a few minutes ago I was scared out of my wits by a super red (almost purple) son who had a bout of gas pushing it’s way up. I picked him up in time to burp him and clean up a mouthful of regurgitated milk. And now, he’s whining and roaring in his cot… Oh no.. sleepless nights ahead I’m sure!

Maybe it’s the responsibility of a little life in my hands that’s weighing on me. Somehow, when it is shared, it seems more than halved. But for the moment, it’s all on me.

hey…i’m juz wondering… does ur son regurgitate milk that often? and to such scary extent? (i mean based on ur description :P ..mine tends to spit a lot.. basically due to the fact that we have a tendency to overfeed him :P ) )

is he gaining weight well? if yes, then i guess it’s nothing to worry about.. else u might read up more on reflux if he does have such a hard time with gas…and regurgitating big amounts of milk… and going ” super red (almost purple) ” all the time…

hey thanks for the concern. now that he went past 2 months, he’s much better already. has not puked for more than a week. before that it was almost like reflux, thou reflux is usually throwing up every feed. my boy throws up like once or twice a day but throwing up means really vomiting from the nose and mouth. very pitiful one. he goes super red/purple when the gas is coming up. like he’s forcing it up. sometimes my good boy will try to swallow back the milk that came up cos i can see his mouth puff up. but sometimes he can’t hold back so he’ll throw it all out.

thank God he’s much better at keeping the milk in his little tummy now. after i used infacol and dr brown’s bottles, he started putting on a little weight and now he is drinking much better with jus the occasional throw ups. =)
