Cyber Sales
I hate it when I go to a shop and ask for something, and have the sales staff reply, “They are all there on the shelves.”
Wah Kaoz! When I even bother to ask, there can only be these reasons:-
1. I can’t find the item and will like to know where it is placed.
2. I have found the item, but will like to know if they come in other colors/sizes/patterns.
3. I am in a hurry, and will like to get my hands on the item asap, without browsing through the stacks.
The job of a salesperson is, simply to sell things. They stand in the shop the whole day, most of the time with nothing to do, and they can’t be bothered to answer a simple question from a potential customer. Even if it is for want of something to do, someone to talk to, please… say more!
I love it when I go to a store and when I enquire about an item, be told with expertise the functions, the comparisons and the reliability. Especially when buying electrical items. There are so many different types, I’ll be at a loss which to choose. One day at Best Denki, a sales staff cannot differentiate between a grinder and a blender. At Carrefour, I was given a detailed outline of the differences as well as comparisons for the same item! At Courts, when I ask about the country of manufacturing of a steamer, I was told it’s INTERNATIONAL, made everywhere! =S (That particular sales lady was too enthusiastic about making sure it’s not made in China.) Sigh…
Just this morning, I emailed an online baby clothing store with regards to certain sizes. There was a discrepancy between the size stated in the website and in another auction by the same store. The reply I got was short and sweet. “All items listed are on the website already.” Am I an idiot? Cannot read from websites ah?
There are so many online stores in the cyber world nowadays. Even I myself am operating one. There is no storefront to visit, no physical samples to touch and no guarantee the seller is honest. So how do we decide which store is authentic and genuine? When seller is not out to cheat? When they indicate contact details, I’m sure it’s for buyers to contact them for queries and more detailed information. Why can’t they be friendlier and answer questions with sincerity, rather then just being rude and to-the-point? What is wrong with spending a little more time to be friendly? “Blah-blah-blah is out of stock, will you like to try blah-blah instead?” Why must it be “No stock! FULLSTOP!” ?
No online pyjamas for Seth now…
