Pride & Shame

Brought Seth to Gymboree again last weekend. (We find him on the ’round’ side and wanna let him work it off! ;p) There is this 45degree angled obstacle that we have been trying to let him climb up with no success. Week after week we will put him on the ’slope’ and get him to crawl up, nudging his butt and pushing him on. He’ll usually jus scramble up ‘graceless-ly’ or simply slide up from our pushing. However, this time round, (with a few meimeis looking on) my hero finally conquered Mount Everest! And he did it with ease too! Climbing up with his palms and toes, his knees lifted from the surface, he literally ‘walked’ up that incline! Once at the top, we got greedy and encouraged him to crawl down the other side as well. I was half expecting him to crawl down the 45 degree slope with his body defying gravity! Stupid me! My boy actually rotated himself and slid down the slope on his tummy with his legs down first! Woahahaha! He has applied the ‘get-down-from-bed’ theory in the gym as well! Smart! =D

On another note, we were at Gymboree that day to attend a trial activity class with a ‘teacher’ leading the class. I found out, to my horror that my boy is ‘unteachable’! He simply refused to cooperate in class!!! =O When the teacher was singing, he looked around for toys to play and crawled over to grab them. When told to return the balls into a basket, he held on tightly to both and stared at the teacher. When told to sit on a barrel while they rolled him around, he had to do a flipping stunt and lie there instead on his tummy and swayed away. When told to sit and sing action songs, he insisted on standing and jumping and waving his arms instead. When told to crawl under a parachute, he tried his hardest to crawl out to safety. When others are intrigued by bubbles floating above, he looked at the floor and searched for gold. When the teacher blew bubbles in his face, he stared at her with the ‘i’m-not-interested’ look. That is my boy! I sure hope he grows up different! :S

The only part of the class he enjoyed was when he was flung up in the air and waved about by PaPa in an action song. He laughed and squealed the loudest! Oh! And the best part? At the end of class where they had free interaction, he crawled up to a pretty girl and leaned forward to kiss her! Full of potential, man!
